WEEKLY MEDITATION 29 AUG -4 SEPT 2016

As you begin this week we ask that you meditate on the following scriptures and how they apply to your life and your growing relationship with the Lord.

Father, we ask that you help us understand your word through guidance of the Holy Spirit, and open our hearts and minds so that we may incorporate your guidance and will into our lives for your glory.

Worship is the “thank you” that refuses to be silenced…..

“Humility and the fear of the Lord bring wealth and honor and life” (Proverbs 22:4)

“Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up” (James 4:10)

“The Lord sustains the humble but casts the wicked to the ground” (Psalm 147:6)

Worship is the “thank you” that refuses to be silenced…..

“When a believing person prays, great things happen” (James 5:16)

“With God’s power working in us, God can do much, much more than anything we can ask or imagine “ (Ephesians 3:20)

“I tell you to believe that you have receiver the things you ask for in prayer, and God will give them to you.” (Mark 11:24)

Don’t reduce these powerful passages to the simple earthly requests of new cars, paychecks and earthly wealth. Don’t limit the promise to selfish perks and favors. The fruit that God assures is far greater than promotions and proposals. His dreams are far greater than anything you can imagine. He wants you to be free of sin, fear, death, pain and much more. These are the prayers he will answer

“God’s word is alive and working and is sharper than a double edged sword. It cuts all the way into us, where the soul and the spirit are joined, to the center of our joint and bones. And it judges the thoughts and feelings in our hearts” (Hebrews 4:12)

The truly happy people are those who carefully study God’s perfect law that makes people free, and they continue to study it. They do not forget what they heard but they obey what God’s teaching says. Those who do this will be made happy” (James 1:25)

“As newborn babies want milk, you should want the pure and simple teaching. By it you can mature in your salvation, because you have already examined and seen how good the Lord is” (1 Peter 2:2-3)

“Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so God can heal you. When a believing person prays, great things happen” (James 5:16)

“May God himself, the God of peace, make you pure, belonging only to him. May your whole self–spirit, soul, and body– be kept safe and without fault when our Lord Jesus Christ comes (1 Thessalonians 5:23)

“The ways of God are without fault. The Lord’s words are pure. He is a shield to those who trust him. Who is God? Only the Lord. Who is the Rock? Only our God. (Psalm 18:30-31)

“Religion that God our father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to Keep oneself from being polluted by the world” (James 1:27)

“Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not men” (Ephesians 6:7)

“Acknowledge the God of your father, and serve him with wholehearted devotion and with a willing mind, for the Lord searches every heart and understands every motive behind the thoughts. If you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will reject you forever” (Colossians 3:23-24)

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up” (Galatians 6:9)

“For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all” (2 Corinthians 4:17)

“The most important command is this…Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all you mind, and all your strength” (Mark 12:29-30)

“We love because God first loved us…Those who do not love their brothers and sisters, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they never seen. And God gave us this command: Those who love God must also love their brothers and sisters” (1 John 4:19-21)

“But in all these things we have full victory through God who showed his love for us” (Romans 8:37)
