Month: February 2019

WEEKLY MEDITATION 25-3 MARCH 2019

Father, we ask that you help us understand your word through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and open our hearts and minds so that we may incorporate your word and will into our lives for your glory.

– Amen

“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God” (Ephesians 2:8)

“For the light in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man…So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him” (Matthew 24:38-39,44)

“He is able, once and forever, to save those who come to God through him. He lives forever to intercede with God on their behalf” (Hebrews 7:25)

WEEKLY MEDIATION FEBRUARY 18-24 2019

Father, we ask that you help us understand your word through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and open our hearts and minds so that we may incorporate your word and will into our lives for your glory.

– Amen

“Our fight is not against people on earth but against the rulers and authorities and the powers of this world’s darkness, against the spiritual powers of the evil in the heavenly world. That is why you need to put on God’s full armor. Then on the day of evil, you will be able to stand strong” (Ephesians 6:12-13)

“Having disarmed the powers and authorities, Jesus made a public spectacle of the forces of evil, triumphing over them by the cross” (Colossians 2:15)

“Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you” (James 4:7)

“But I want to remind you, though you once knew this, that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe. And the angels who did not keep their proper domain, but left their own abode, He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day” (Jude vv. 5-6)

The Real Story of Valentines Day

This week we celebrate Valentine’s Day, a day when Americans focus on love and romance. But most of those celebrating don’t know that the man for whom this day is named was a Christian persecuted because of his Christian actions.

The following is adapted from the “Note to Parents and Educators” included in VALENTINE: God’s Courageous Evangelist, a book published by VOM as part of The Courageous Series for children that tells the true stories of heroes of the Christian faith such as St. Valentine.

Valentine’s Day is celebrated every year on Feb. 14, but why?

WEEKLY MEDITATION 11-17 FEBRUARY 2019

Father, we ask that you help us understand your word through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and open our hearts and minds so that we may incorporate your word and will into our lives for your glory.

– Amen

“As for me, I will see Your face in righteousness; I shall be satisfied when I awake in Your likeness” (Psalm 17:15)

“For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:13-14)

“But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit” (2 Corinthians 3:16-18)

WEEKLY MEDITATION 4-10 FEBRUARY 2019

Father, we ask that you help us understand your word through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and open our hearts and minds so that we may incorporate your word and will into our lives for your glory.

– Amen

“God is able to do whatever he promises” (Romans 4:21)

“No matter how many promises God has made, they are “yes” in Christ. And so through him, the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God” (2 Corinthians 1:20)

“As the rain and snow come down from heaven and stay upon the ground to water the earth, and cause the grain to grow and to produce seed for the farmer and bread for the hungry, so also is my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It shall accomplish all I want it to and prosper everywhere I send it” (Isaiah 55:10-11)
