Matthew

WEEKLY MEDITATION 21-27 April 2014

As you begin this week, we ask that you think about the following scriptures and how they apply to your life and your growing relationship with the Lord.

“You diligently study the Scriptures because you think that by them you possess eternal like. These are the Scriptures that testify about me, yet you refuse to come to me to have life”. (John 5:39-49)

” All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away. For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but do the will of him who sent me.  And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all that he has given me, but raise them up at the last day. For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day” (John 6:37-40)

” No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day. It is written in the Prophets: ‘ They will all be taught by God.’  Everyone who listens to the Father and learns from him comes to me. No one has seen the Father except the one who is from God; only he has seen the Father. I tell you the truth, he who believes has everlasting life. I am the bread of life. Your forefathers ate the manna in the desert, yet they died. But here is the bread that comes down from heaven, which a man may eat and not die. I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which will give for the life of the world.” (John 6:44-51)

WEEKLY MEDITATION 14 – 20 APRIL (Holy Week)

As you begin this holy week, think about the following scriptures and how they apply to your life and your growing relationship with the Lord.

“This is what is written: The Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance and forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things. I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with the power from on high” (Luke: 24:46-49)

“This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.” (Luke 24:44)

“Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life” (John 3:14-15)

“The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my own life – only to take it up again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father” (John 10:17-18)

While they were eating, Jesus took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.”  Then he took the cup, gave thanks and offered it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. I tell you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it anew with you in my Father’s Kingdom.” (Matthew 26:26-29)

“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14-16)

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him” (John 3:16-17)

” Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. In God’s great mercy he has caused us to be born again into a living hope, because Jesus Christ rose from the Dead” (1 Peter 1:3)

WEEKLY MEDITATION 7-13 APRIL

As you begin this week, think about the following scriptures and how they apply to your life and your growing relationship with the Lord.

“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” (John 8:12)

“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really knew me, you would know my father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.” (John 14:6-7)

“I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness” (John 12:46)

“Whoever believes in him [Christ] is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only son. This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God” (John 3:18-21)

WEEKLY MEDITATION 31-6 APRIL 2014

As you begin this week, think about the following scriptures and how they apply to your life and your growing relationship with the Lord.

” Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are vicious wolves. By their fruit you will recognize them.” (Matthew 7:15-16)

” When you see the abomination that causes desolation; standing where it does not belong – let the reader understand – then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains” (Mark 13-14)

” I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved” (John 10:9)
He replied, “Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you hypocrites as it is written: ‘ These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. They worship me in vain; their teachings are but rules taught by men.’  You have let go of the commands of God ini order to observe your own traditions. Thus you nullify the word of God by your tradition that you have handed down. And you do many things like that” (Mark 7:6-9 and 7-13)
