WEEKLY MEDITATION 11-17 JANUARY 2015

As you begin this week we ask that you meditate on the following scriptures and how they apply to your life and your growing relationship with the Lord.

Father, we ask that you help us understand your word through guidance of the Holy Spirit, and open our hearts and minds so that we may incorporate your guidance and will into our lives for your glory.

Worship is the “thank you” that refuses to be silenced…..

“Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7)

“I pray that out of His glorious riches He may strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people,  to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge -that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.” (Ephesians 3:16-19)

“Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and His wonderful deeds for mankind. Let them sacrifice thank offerings and tell of His works with songs of joy.” (Psalm 107:21-22)

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29:11)

” The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him; it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord” (Lamentations 3″25-26)

Worship is the “thank you” that refuses to be silenced…..

“All have sinned and are not good enough for God’s glory, and all need to be made right with God by his grace, which is a free gift. They need to be made free from sin through Jesus Christ” (Romans 3:23-24)

“If anyone does sin, we have a helper in the presence of the Father – Jesus Christ, the One who does what is right. He is the way our sins are taken away, and not only our sins but the sins of all people” (1 John 2:1-2)

“God did not send his Son into the world to judge the world guilty, but to save the world through him. People who believe in God’s Son are not judged guilty. Those who believe in the Son have eternal life, but those who do not obey the Son will never have life. God’s anger stays on them.” (John 3:17, 36)

He Came Near. Christmas Message

John 3:16 …For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

As Christmas dawns across the world, we wish you and your family a very blessed and peaceful Christmas and New Year.  We also ask that you keep those less fortunate then yourselves, those who are persecuted for their Christian faith, those that are lonely and suffering, those in need and all those who need prayer in their lives, in your prayers.

“We have troubles all around us, but we are not defeated. We do not know what to do, but we do not give up the hope of living. We are persecuted, but God does not leave us. We are hurt sometimes, but we are not destroyed…So we do not give up. Our physical body is becoming older and weaker, but our spirit inside us is made  new every day. We have small troubles for a while now, but they are helping us fain an eternal glory that is much greater than the troubles. We set our eyes not on what we see but on what we cannot see..” 1 Corinthians 4:8-9, 16-18

“Then suddenly there appeared with the angel an army of the troops of heaven (a heavenly knighthood), praising God and saying, Glory to God in the highest [heaven], and on earth peace among men with whom He is well pleased [men of goodwill, of His favor]. Luke 2:13-14 AMP

We would like to leave you with this last Christmas Story from Max Lucado’s book Grace For the Moment. “In Bethlehem, the human being who best understood who God was and what he was doing, was a teenage girl in a smelly stable. As Mary looked into the face of the baby, she saw her son, her Lord, His majesty.  She couldn’t take her eyes off him!  Somehow Mary knew she was holding God.  So this is he, she thought. She remembered the words of the angel. “His kingdom will never end!”

He looks like anything but a king. His cry, though strong and healthy, was still the helpless and piercing cry of a baby. Majesty in the midst of mundane. Holiness in the filth of sheep manure and sweat. Divinity entering the world on the floor of a stable, through the womb of a teenager and in the presence of a carpenter. God came near! And Luke 1:33 says, “His kingdom will never end!”

The Voice of the Martyrs is a non-profit,inter-denominational Christian organization dedicated to assisting our persecuted family worldwide. VOM was founded in 1967 by Pastor Richard Wurmbrand, who was imprisoned 14 years in Communist Romania for his faith in Christ. His wife, Sabina, was imprisoned for three years. In the 1960s, Richard, Sabina, and their son, Mihai, were ransomed out of Romania and came to the United States. Through their travels, the Wurmbrands spread the message of the atrocities that Christians face in restricted nations, while establishing a network of offices dedicated to assisting the persecuted church. Many can use the reassuring words of the Bible when we are overwhelmed and sometimes forget the true meaning of Christmas.

“Lord, answer me because your love is so good. Because of your great kindness, turn to me. Do not hide from me, your servant. I am in trouble. Hurry to help me! Come near and save me; rescue me from my enemies” (Psalm 69:16-18)

“I love the lord, because he listens to my prayers for help. He paid attention to me, so I will call to him for help as long as I live” (Psalm 116:1-1)

“I urge you now to live the life to which God called you. Always be humble, gentle, and patient, accepting each other in love. You are joined together with peace through the Spirit, so make every effort to continue together in the this way” (Ephesians 4:1-3)

“Love each other deeply, because love will cause many sins to be forgiven. Open your homes to each other, without complaining. Each of you has received a gift to use to serve others. Be good servants of God’s various gifts of grace” (1 Peter 4:  8-10)

“Be sure that no one pays back wrong for wrong, but always try to do what is good for each other and for all people” (1 Thessalonians 5:15)

VOM announces new Christian school initiative.
You Can Help Launch a New Christian School for Children Who Have Suffered at the Hands of ISIS

When Christian families were forced out of their homes in northern Iraq by the Islamic extremists known as ISIS, they had to leave everything behind.

Many of the families fled to other areas of Iraq and the neighboring countries of Turkey, Lebanon and Jordan. They have escaped immediate danger, but they are still living near the ISIS frontlines. These families are living in shelters, warehouses, and vacated apartments. The parents cannot work to provide for their children, and the children have no schools to attend. Partnering with local Christian leaders, VOM is working to launch a new Christian elementary school for children who have suffered at the hands of ISIS.

These Christian families gave up everything when they were forced to flee their homes in the Nineveh Plain in northern Iraq after refusing to deny their faith.

This outreach includes renovations, school supplies, teachers and even vehicles to transport the children. The school will soon be filled with more than 150 children, ages 4 through 8. We pray that the Lord will use us to provide them with a quality Christian education.

VOM’s President, Jim Dau, just returned from visiting the site of the new school and said: “I was amazed at the joy on the faces of these children as they sang praises to Jesus. Children who had, just a year earlier, been driven into the desert with their families after ISIS attacked.”

In support of this opportunity to bless our persecuted family, VOM is committing to raise $150,000. This will ensure support for more than 150 children of the displaced Christians through the 2015/2016 school year. We invite you to join with us in serving these precious children.
